Yellow was the color of her happiness. Janna had decided that long ago. It made her feel warm, sun-kissed, the light of the sun gentle and kind against the soft planes of her body. Yellow was the color of her favorite flowers, her favorite duvet cover, and the sunny side up eggs her father made on Sundays. Whenever he was away on business trips she'd try her hand at frying eggs, but ah, they never taste right when you made them yourself. That's why she was here at the Sunshine Cafe, just past seven-o-three in the morning, for a breakfast that was made by someone else.
She sipped on her hyacinth-infused iced tea, wondering how the etched glass could take the soft, dewy light of the morning sun and magnify them to such an extent. Janna stared, waiting for her food, mouth half agape as she took in the yellow and pink walls, dancing with soft shifts of light passing through quick moving clouds. There was a soft jingle at the entrance, but she barely paid it any mind, tracing the walls with her eyes, counting every speck and mote.
Janna took a wistful sip, wishing she had stayed true and gotten her favorite honeysuckle tea instead.
Oh well. Maybe I'll treat myself and get another tea to walk home with.
Vikkin was late to breakfast. According to no one's clock but his own. Seven o'clock on the dot had always seemed to him to be the best time to get his breakfast and a large, sweet coffee before heading to his father's office at the stable to do the accounting and check on the trainers. He knew he looked tired and frazzled, a little sweat already sticking his black hair to his forehead, though he hadn't been out for long. He'd overslept. He never overslept.
The Sunshine Cafe was small, and the waitress recognized him instantly when he walked in, nodding to let him know his toast with eggs and bacon would be ready for him in quick time. He turned to sit at his regular table, and that's when he saw her. Janna.
He leaned over so she couldn't miss him. "Do you mind if I join you?" He asked, with a small, tired smile
