Idris is a character in a PJO-inspired universe with slightly more OP character abilities, and none of the canon events having happened. She is an old character with a lot of drama and history attached by RP.
Divine Parent: Ares
Age: 19 – 35
Biography: Throughout Idris’ life, one phrase was branded into her brain over and over: balance is beautiful. In a way, this is ironic, as her childhood was characterized by anything but balance. Her mother, Akiko, came from a very traditional old family who ran a ryokan (a traditional Japanese inn), the Yukimuras, who were supposedly descended from a line of prestigious samurai. As the only child for the longest time, she was raised as if she was next in line to the family, taught how to act as the perfect hostess, but also how to use a sword and a rifle. When she was 15, her mother got pregnant with a boy, and Akiko’s place in the family was largely gone. A few years later, Ares got her pregnant, and her family disowned her and shipped her off to America.
In America, Akiko changed her last name to Yuuki, for courage, and named her baby girl Idris, believing it meant “fiery lord” and not realizing that it was largely a boy’s name. She worked hard, got involved with the Chinese mob, and started working towards a medical degree to become a pediatrician, all the while raising her little girl like a princess, and not in the spoiled way. Acutely aware of the fact that Idris’ father was a god, Akiko knew that her child’s life would never be normal, and she had to be prepared for that.
Idris didn’t know who her father was, growing up. All she knew was that her life was dictated by rules no one else had to keep. Her mother taught her how to use a rifle, how to fight, how to host a tea ceremony. She was taught how to hide her pain and her emotions under a veneer of proper comportment and tightly controlled inscrutability. She was not allowed to fight other people or to cry, and as much as she understood that her mother loved her, she also knew that her mother would never coddle her, or even probably protect her. When she was 17, her mother finally told her why.
Perhaps because of her strange upbringing, she accepted the truth more easily than most. She fought to be allowed to attend college for a year, but at age 19, her mother told her to go find a camp in the East, where demigods like her belonged. The last words her mother told her before she left were, “Don’t let them send me the obituary.”
The first of her story starts when she arrives at camp, and in that RP, she goes through an adventure where she makes friends with other demigods and together they defeat Kronos. Following his defeat, she curses Hades for killing a friend, and then falls into an alternate universe that leads her to mistakenly sleep with one of her best friends (who also happened to actually be gay and a son of Apollo). Since then, she essentially went into hiding from her friends to raise the twins that were a result of that union back home in California. She never told their father about them.
Although much gentler than her mother, she raised her two kids with the same level of caution that her mother had raised her, knowing their lives would be no easier than hers had been, or at least she tried to. When her kids were 4, however, the gods waltzed back into her life with a new threat, along with a few of her old friends, first just to ask her for a favor. It turned out, however, that what had seemed like a simple favor was a trap, leading to the resurrection of Kronos.
After being chased around by Kronos across the world, Idris and her friends manage to corner Kronos in one of many failed bodies, and unbeknownst to them, her two children manage to trick Kronos’ spirit into being eternally trapped in a diamond, but her daughter gets trapped in there with him, and another child’s soul gets transferred to her daughter’s body. She has since lived quietly with her son and a freeloader, her son now 16 years old.
Demigod Abilities:
– Enhanced Fighting Skill – As a demigod, Idris has generally enhanced physical abilities compared to normal people, but especially as a child of Ares, she is quick to catch on to the use of almost every kind of weapon, and is an intuitive fighter.
– Curse of War – Although unable to directly control the souls of those who owe their allegiance to Ares, Idris does have the ability, when especially motivated and with the help of her father, to curse people to have misfortune in battle, or with the harassment of the dead who swore allegiance to Ares in life. Her eyes turn purple when she uses this ability.
Personality: Oddly enough for a child of Ares, she tends to be very calm and collected, and constantly poised. She attributes this to her mother, who has nerves of steel and the gentle smile of a delicate flower. She prefers peace and quiet to constant noise and high-energy, but is calm in high-stress situations. The best way to describe her would be “comfortable in her own skin.” It takes a lot to anger her, but when she is angry or when someone challenges her to a fight, her whole demeanor changes and she becomes a fierce, passionate fighter, though always a clever one. When it comes to fighting, she perfectly embodies her father’s qualities of being the god of the chaos and bloodlust of war. Despite her exterior calm, Idris has a core of vulnerability and can be very awkward, or at least quietly, sarcastically humorous around other people.
Note: Idris has dual citizenship, with her registered Japanese name being Yukimura Moeko 雪村 炎子. She chose Japanese citizenship when she was 20, but this does not affect her US citizenship.
