Race Explanation: Common misconception about basilisks: they’re king snakes. Nope, they’re killer chickens with snake tails and laser beam eyes. The reason why people associate basilisks with large snakes is because of the hydrasilisks. Also happens to be why no one can seem to agree over just what powers, exactly, basilisks have. Unlike conventional hydras, hydrasilisks very rarely reveal all of their heads at once. They are born with nine and, again contrary to popular belief and unlike hydras, the heads don’t argue with or contradict each other. Rather, they are controlled by one brain, and each head has a different attribute. The most common are: 1. acid spray 2. killing eyes 3. fire breath 4. poison breath 5. warning whistle (no one know what’s up with this head, it doesn’t have any offensive capabilities) 6. poisonous touch 7. acute sense of smell. The other couple heads are almost always harmless, more often used as distractions than anything else. Controlling all nine heads at once can be difficult, which is why so few keep more than one out at once, but having a head chopped off, then burned leaves a scar on the neck no matter which head is used and is extremely painful. If one head is simply chopped off, two new ones grow to replace it. Y’all know how this works Anyways, they can shapeshift into humans with only one head, but the head will retain its capabilities. Unlike in hydra form, they cannot choose the head that manifests itself as a human, the first head they are born with is their human head. They age in leaps and bounds that even they cannot track. It is arbitrary and according to person.
